Smile of the Month

Following teenage female patient visited our office with chief complaint of “crooked teeth”. Patient expressed not being happy with her smile and was not eager to smile. Patient presented with mild class 2 occlusion, crowding of arches, crossbite of maxillary lateral incisor teeth. Patient did not wish to have braces and requested clear aligners. Patient was treated with Invisalign clear aligner and elastics. Total treatment time was 26 months. Patient achieved excellent results.

22-year-old male patient visited our office with chief complaint of “chewing difficulty”. Patient expressed not being happy with his facial appearance and having a large lower jaw. Patient presented with severe class 3 occlusion, mild crowding, severe bilateral posterior open bite, mid-face deficiency, bilateral posterior crossbite and a concave profile. Patient was bonded with self-ligating appliances and was set-up for orthognathic surgery. Patient underwent double jaw surgery. Malar(cheek) area was augmented. Total treatment time was 23 months. Patient achieved excellent dental and facial results with drastic changes.

This 26-year-old patient wanted to straighten her severely crooked teeth because they made her feel self-conscious. Not wanting to draw any more attention to her teeth, she decided to get Invisalign. Multiple orthodontists told her that her case was too complicated for Invisalign treatment, but she persisted and eventually found Dr. Mason. He was able to combine Invisalign with a class II corrector and elastics to fully address all her issues. After going through the process, she said she was extremely happy with the results and could not stop smiling.

This 17-year old patient came into our office with a multitude of problems we’ve helped many other people fix: teeth crowding, an underbite, and a crossbite of the back teeth (where the upper and lower teeth are offset from left to right). Each of these issues was quite severe, however, and the patient was previously told he needed surgery to correct them all. He said he didn’t want to undergo surgery, so Dr. Mason put together a customized treatment plan. First, he placed a temporary anchorage device (TAD) supported expander to increase the size of the patient's hard palate, and he also used another TAD on the lower teeth to close the spaces. Then, Damon self-ligating braces helped move the teeth into their ideal positions. One of the patient’s lower premolars was removed as well. In the end, the patient was able to avoid surgery and achieve excellent results he could not believe.

23-year-old female patient presented to our office with severe crowding and worn teeth. Patient was not happy with the appearance of teeth and shape of restoration on tooth #9. Patient was treated with extraction of 4 premolar teeth and Damon system in 20 months. She will undergo whitening and restoration of tooth #9 for improved esthetics.

Adult male patient presented to our office with a deep bite, crowding and tooth wear. Patient exhibited class II molar occlusion, severe deep bite and maxillary/mandibular crowding. Patient was treated with class II corrector and limited maxillary braces for a short time and was transitioned to Invisalign clear aligners. Patient achieved fantastic results and was very satisfied with the results. Treatment time: 22 months.

Adult female patient visited our office to correct her severe openbite. Patient presented with low tongue posture and front teeth protruding forward. Patient was treated with Invisalign Clear Aligners and temporary anchorage devices(TADS). With TAD intrusion, open bite was corrected without surgery. Patient achieved great results after 20 months and received a dental implant to restore missing tooth #11.

This 29-year-old female patient visited our office to correct her open bite, reduce the excessive gingival show (gummy smile) and increased face height. Patients exhibited significant open bite, recessive mandible and dental crowding. The patient underwent orthodontic treatment with maxillomandibular surgery. Post-surgical settling of the bite was achieved via elastics. The patient achieved excellent bite correction along with significant improvement in her smile. Total treatment time: 24 months.

This 60-year-old female patient visited our office to correct her posterior crossbite and improve her smile. Patient was not a candidate for surgery or Tad-Supported palatal expansion due to advanced age. Patient exhibited posterior crossbite, traumatic occlusion on her front teeth, non-coincident midlines, and facial asymmetry. The patient was interested in aligner treatment and understood that non-surgical treatment would not correct the facial asymmetry. Treatment with aligners and elastics was initiated. Interproximal reduction was performed to reduce dark triangles. Patient showed excellent compliance and posterior crossbite was corrected. The patient achieved excellent bite correction along with significant improvement in her smile. Total treatment time: 12 months.
